PAUL MCGILL CLASSICAL ACOUSTIC GUITAR 1989 ROSEWOOD
Paul Fischer is England's most experienced and respected guitar maker, beginning his instrument making career fifty years ago as a student of the world famous harpsichord maker Robert Goble. After military service, he joined David Rubio, another well known master luthier of guitars and lutes.
For over fifty years Paul Fischer has been an inspired artistic influence in the evolution of the modern concert guitar. To help further his contributions in this area, he was awarded in the mid 1980s a Winston Churchill Fellowship and a Southern Arts research bursary. His instruments have been featured in many publications including the best selling book "The Complete Guitarist" by Richard Chapman, and "The Classical Guitar" (Balafon 1997) (Dorling Kindersley 1993).
Sergio and Odair Assad, Eduardo Fernandez, Badi Assad, Marcello Kayah, John Mills and Konrad Ragossnig have all performed on Fischer guitars. Most recently, the prodigiously talented young American virtuoso, Jason Vieaux, has been performing and recording with a Fischer classical guitar. Hear Jason Vieaux' magnificent recordings - "Sevilla" and "Manuel Ponce: The Guitar Sonatas" and "Images of Metheny" - recorded with a Spruce top Paul Fischer guitar.
This is a rare opportunity to own this master piece of collector/player guitar by Paul Fischer. In combination with Paul's lifetime experience in workmanship, here is a fine example of English luthery.
This is a special Anniversary guitar (with a special Anniversary label signed by Paul Fischer), which was made in the golden year of 1988. Despite its age, the guitar is almost in brand new condition with some artificial play wear. No crack and repair.
The tone is thick and rich with incredible sustain, especially in the higher registers. It is also very bold – this is one of the more powerful Fischer's I have ever heard. It also has the beauty and lyricism for which he is best known. I consider this instrument both a players dream and highly collectable. Overall the sound of is warm, smooth, musically precise, powerful, and clear: wonderfully alive yet firm, controlled, focused and effortless to produce.
