Godin 5th Avenue CW Kingpin II Archtop Electric Guitar with Case
You are bidding on a 1999 Jim Norris “Smallman” model classical guitar made by the late Jim Norris, who was a very close personal friend of John Williams. Jim Norris studied guitar making in Spain and later taught guitar making in Chicago during the 1960’s. Jim’s work was profiled in American Lutherie #89 published by the Guild of American Luthiers. This instrument was among the last made before he passed away, and in my opinion is among his finest Smallman models. Jim was able to examine the Smallman guitars owned by John Williams, and Jim’s Smallman models are closer to the originals than just about any other maker working today. If you are looking for the Smallman sound without paying the Smallman price, this is the instrument for you. In perfect condition, crack-free, and with an easy to handle 645 mm scale (53 mm nut), this instrument plays and responds exactly like the best Smallman’s I’ve played. This instrument has a spruce top, and the sides and back are the usual laminated rosewood Smallman style massive construction which makes for a surprisingly heavy guitar, which is always a surprise to those who have never actually handled a Smallman before. Bright, loud, with surprising carrying power, these Smallman style instruments have found favor with wide variety of younger players thanks to John Williams’ prominent promotion of them. Included with the instrument is a fitted hard shell case. Shipping within the continental USA is free, destinations outside the USA will pay actual shipping charges, which based on the size and weight could easily run in excess of $250 or more. Payment is by Paypal only, ask questions first, all sales are final. Be sure to check out our other auctions on ebay!
